Recap OK to TN; Geese,Scary Carwash, Norman Bates and More

Hey friends! While I’m at my mom’s for a bit and have a constant WiFi connection and an endless choice of electrical outlets, I thought this would be a perfect time to recap our trip.

So we went to Oklahoma and it was awesome. We stayed at Lake Murray State Park and I would go back in a heartbeat. Super pretty lake, awesome trails, nice people, and geese.

Oh my gosh so many geese!

I have never heard so many geese honking all at once in all my forty-four years of living on this earth.

They were more active at dusk and dawn, and even tho they got kinda loud, it was a cool sound and Z and I loved hearing it!

After Lake Murray we headed to Tennessee…stopping a lot along the way.

We came across a pecan/ fruit/plant stand where I bought a perfect little travel size honey and we got to meet a dog named Lola.

We also drove through some little town that had like a “town square”, so we stopped and explored.

We also came across ….are you ready?……It’s like the scariest car wash ever…..

I mean…for real…doesn’t this look like the clown from It would be in there or something? It’s like you would drive in and never drive out….#nothanks

But wait, there’s more! Not too much later we came across Norman Bates’ new venture…

It seems he is now opting for a convenience store instead of a hotel…

Yeah..#letsgo

When we got to Tennessee we went to Memphis and T. O. Fuller State Park. It’s really neat because it’s literally right in the city. You turn down a few city roads and all of a sudden you are in a gorgeous state park.

Now, I wish I had a picture of the man in the visitor’s center that helped us. He was awesome!

Happy…funny…just had a good energy about him.

I learned that he was from Tennessee and he loved it. I also learned that if I mixed my McDonalds coffee with the coffee he had made in the visitor center, he would be offended..lol..that his coffee was “better than McDonald’s and he would dare anyone to tell him otherwise.” (He was right, by the way).

Super cool dude with a great vibe …honestly meeting and talking with him is one of my favorite memories. Totally love connecting with people like that!

As far as Tennessee and the park…gorgeous.

After we were there, we headed back to Texas and on the way we meet a really cool trucker.

Really wish I had a pic of him, too.

He approached me and Z while I was letting her walk around a bit and stretch her legs. She did super good and barked at him enough to make him stop and keep a safe distance away from us. (That’s why she’s my road dawg 😀).

He started asking me about Zero and then told me he had a pit/terrier mix in his cab. He’s had for for three years and she goes everywhere he goes. I asked her name and he said “her name is Bella….Bella Ba-Loo.”

Totally cool dude and we ended up hanging out in that parking lot talking for a while. We talked about our dogs ,dogs in general, service dogs, and crazy drivers on the road. I learned that he has to drive to Houston this week and he hates the traffic as much as I do in that city.

Totally enjoyed my time talking with him and just like the man in T. O. Fuller State Park, meeting him is one of my favorite moments of the trip.

While driving on the way back to Texas and reflecting about the trip I realized it’s not just about the places and fun or pretty things we’ll see, it’s also about the people we come across and get to meet.

It was so cool to me that I got to say hello to people that I would have never met had I not ventured out.

I was able to talk to these people, connect with them and kinda learn their story a bit…and that’s just cool.

So yeah…totally awesome time.

We’ll be at my mom’s for about a week and then heading out again. While I’m here I am going to make Dante a little more “sleep ready”. (Not that we want to sleep in him a lot, but it’s nice to have as an option.) He worked out pretty good but the curtains I used to block my windows with didn’t work too well.

I’ve been watching some Youtube videos and have some ideas I am wanting to try so I’ll keep ya posted if they work out or not.

Until then, stay cool and cheers to a great day! ✌️
